# History of local authorities that have opened their data

## The numbers

The number of territorial actors having opened their data is **1062**

broken down into **868** **local authorities** (communes, EPCI, metropolises, departments and regions),

plus **194 associated actors** (Mixed Syndicates, Tourism, Transport or Energy Offices, GIP, Public Service Delegates).

The growth in the number of open local authorities has continued with a regular trend of around 150 local authorities per year on average over the last 5 years.

{% hint style="success" %}
The increase between 2021 and 2022 is **168 new communities**, an increase of **+18% over 2021**, making it the best growth rate in the last 5 years.
{% endhint %}

### How to explain this growth in 2022?

The new communities registered in 2022 come mainly from territories where local leadership has been instrumental in supporting the opening of data. This is notably the case for more than 100 municipalities in the Brittany region, supported by the "Mixed Syndicate of Territorial Cooperation" **Mégalis** as part of an ambitious project supported by the Plan de Relance. This offer was itself based on a project carried out by **Gironde Numérique**, also supported by the Recovery Plan.

These examples show **the importance of local support** (corresponding to the OpenDataLocale program supported by OpenDataFrance) and **the real and measurable impacts of the Data projects supported by the AAPs of the Recovery Plan**.
